Cellulite Treatments
Cellulite is one of the most common challenges women face as far as their body image goes. About 90% of women have it and all of them are trying to find a cure or treatment that will remove the “cottage cheese” texture from their thighs and hips.
Cellulite is formed when fat deposits start pushing through the middle layer of our skin and give a dimply appearance. This is most common around the hips and thigh area, but women have also had cellulite appear on their arms and other body parts.
Cellulite is caused by a variety of factors. While it largely thought to be passed down through genes, it is also caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, aging and hormonal factors. Just as there are a number of factors that cause cellulite, there are numerous treatment options. The most commonly used, however, is the use of cellulite creams.
Anti-cellulite creams have made a huge name for themselves as they have been heavily marketed as the only inexpensive way of removing cellulite. Other cellulite treatments, like laser therapy, are very expensive and thus unaffordable for most women. Cellulite creams come in a variety of ranges, and can be priced anywhere from a few dollars to several hundred dollars per bottle.
Cellulite creams include a variety of ingredients that all help reduce the appearance of cellulite by targeting various factors that cause it in the first place. The most common ingredients are caffeine, retinol and antioxidant DMAE.
The ingredients work in different ways. Caffeine helps rid the body of excess water, which reduces the size of the fat cells, thus helping reduce the cellulite. By removing moisture from the skin, caffeine tightens it, thus making it look like it has had removed cellulite. Caffeine also helps blood circulation. Since poor blood circulation is a factor that causes cellulite, this can help reduce cellulite to some extent.
Retinol increases the amount of collagen the skin produces, thus making it thicker and masking the dimpling that cellulite causes. Finally, antioxidant DMAE, derived from fish, is helpful in tightening the skin.
Results vary, with most scientists saying that anti-cellulite creams show no permanent results and can be used as only a temporary solution to the problem. As you may have noticed, the ingredients mostly help by masking the cellulite that exists, and aren’t actually helping in reducing or removing the cellulite itself.
Anti-cellulite creams should, therefore, be taken with a grain of salt as there are no trials that have proven that applying topical creams can remove or reduce cellulite. However, by applying the product daily, and after about two months of application, you can expect to see some changes in the way your skin looks, which can help camouflage the cellulite that exists.
Rather than trying various kinds of cellulite creams, it is instead recommended you maintain a healthy level of exercise and eat nutritious foods. By doing this, you can reduce the chances that cellulite will develop. However, if you already have cellulite, you can try the cellulite creams and hope that they will be able to mask the cellulite to some level.
